Grant Scheme: 1/0336/16 VEGA Scientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, science, research and sport of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Academy of Sciences

Project title: Postmillennial sensibility in Anglophone literatures, cultures and media.

Implementation period: 01/2020-12/2022

Position: Investigator.

The project aimed at creating intersections between male theories of the postmillennial cultural paradigm and female theories of postfeminist culture. Through the analysis of a representative sample of literary, broadcast media and Internet texts the project team tested the validity of still developing theories of the new cultural paradigm and emphasized more gender-based explorations of metamodernism.

Main project outputs:

1. edited book:

Grant scheme: 1/0447/20 Scientific Grant Agency of the Ministry of Education, science, research and sport of the Slovak Republic and the Slovak Academy of Sciences

Project title: Global and local in postmillennial Anglophone literatures, cultures and media.

Implementation period: 01/2020-12/2022

Position: investigator.

The project aims at creating intersections between the theoretical writings on globalization, the theoretical writings on identity and recent theories of the new post-postmodern cultural paradigm. This theoretical basis is used to study the tension between the discourse of globalization and the identity discourse reflected in the representations of the global and the local in postmillennial Anglophone cultural production. Main project outputs:

  1. edited book :

Representations of the Local in the Postmillennial Novel : New Voices from the Margins / Milena Kaličanin and Soňa Šnircová (eds.). - 1. vyd. - Newcastle upon Tyne : Cambridge Scholars Publishing, 2022. - 156 s. Perception of the USA at Secondary and Higher Education Institutions in the Eastern Slovak Region through Local and Global Media

01/2023-12/2024

Investigator.

Project summary:

This project focuses on analyzing the cultural perception of contemporary USA by the students of English bilingual secondary schools in the Eastern Slovakia region. Due to the current geopolitical and sociocultural atmosphere, as well as in response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, it is possible to see increasingly critical attitudes in Slovakia towards the policy and culture of the United States, as well as an increase in the perception of the Russian Federation as a strategic partner to the Slovak Republic. In this project, a team of researchers with experience from a wide scope of cultural, literary and media analyzes will examine these attitudes and their sources with the goal of revealing the students’ perception of the fast-changing global sociocultural atmosphere and of the global media.

Main project outputs:

1. Dissemination and popularisation seminar on the project outputs, 2024.

2. Three publications of project investigators.
